Heritage…
Carlino’s family began to cultivate the finest fruits and vegetables and raise the healthiest game and livestock on the family farm in the sunny hills of Abruzzi, Italy over six generations ago. Many of Carlino’s Olde World recipes were developed in those kitchens and are still enjoyed today. Cured meats like prosciutto and soppresatta, sausages, sun-dried tomatoes, crusty breads, oil-cured olives, dried figs and olive oils, pasta, sauces and sweets have outlasted the test of time and remain virtually unchanged.
Grandfather Pasquale came to America in the early 1900’s and was later followed by his family, including his daughter-in-law, Angela Carlino, who was known and loved as the famous Mama Carlino. Carlino’s opened its first family store in Ardmore, Pa., in the 1980’s offering homemade pastas, sauces and the freshest pastries and cookies. The business flourished and grew over the years to become one of the best-known specialty food stores in the Philadelphia area with two gourmet markets and a full catering service.
Today, in our third generation of ownership, Carlino’s Specialty Foods & Catering continues as purveyors of artisan breads and cheeses, homemade desserts, signature pasta and sauces, prepared gourmet foods, an authentic deli, sausages, roasted meats, espresso, gelati and our award-winning Extra-Virgin Olive Oil, and an impressive selection of Italian groceries, many of which are imported exclusively by Carlino’s.
Our commitment to Olde World techniques, treasured family recipes, the finest ingredients and an enduring hospitality has not changed. Our family invites you to celebrate with us the art of cooking, the joy of family and the value of tradition…from our kitchen to yours.
