Meet the Vendor- Mompops

May 25, 2017 0 Comments

Our newest vendors, Mompops, out of Kennett Square, PA, has some of the highest enthusiasm for their products we have ever encountered – and it’s infectious! If you haven’t tried Mompops yet, you’re really missing out on a revolutionary product that’s turning the industry on its head. A must-try!

As you can probably tell by the name, Mompops is a family run business that makes popsicles. It is named after Mom, Sandy Ostrander, and her son Issa, who created the first Mompop in 2010. They’re aim was to update a timeless classic treat to fit the tendencies of the modern consumer. 7 years later- they have truly accomplished what they set out to do, in two fold!

The first way they have modernized the Popsicle was to minimize the size to a one-of-a-kind 1 oz. ‘minipop’, about the 1/3 the size of a normal pop. Originally, they were making the popsicles in the larger sizes that we’re accustomed to consuming, until Issa was out demonstrating the product. He said he heard from countless taste testers, particularly parents, who said they would be more compelled to purchase the product if it was in a smaller, more kid-friendly size. That’s exactly what they did, and now those ‘minipops’ are the delicious standard.

They come in several different flavors including: Banana Raspberry Cream, Pineapple Basil, Strawberry Lemonade, Orange Coconut, Chocolate Sea Salt, and Mango (which we tasted when we visited the headquarters!)

The second, and more important way they updated the traditional Popsicle was to make it healthy! A Mompop is (*takes deep breath*) “Whole fruit with no concentrates, dyes or preservatives is lightly sweetened with a dash of organic agave nectar, keeping the glycemic value low and each minipop under 19 calories, 4g of carbs, and 4g of sugar. Every pop is gluten free, peanut free, dairy free, soy free, non-GMO, vegan certified, and kosher certified.” Yes, all of that – and they still taste delicious!

Each Mompop is handcrafted in their factory in Kenntt Square, Pa, which we recently had a chance to stop by and check out their operation. Their little corner of the world has gotten a big update over the last 6 months, including new machines that aid them in the manufacturing process.

Due to the latest technology, they are able to produce 2000 Mompops an hour, and with the amount they work, they are on track to produce 2.6 million Mompops this year!!

We are really happy to have teamed up with the great people at Mompops and helping to bring a healthy, delicious treat to our customers. If you would like to try one of those 2.6 million Mompops for yourself, they will be available for free tasting this Saturday, May 27th, at our Ardmore location from 11 am – 2 pm. Stop on by!
