Carlino's Market History

The Carlino Family began to cultivate the finest fruits and vegetables and raise the healthiest game and livestock on the family farm in the sunny hills of Abruzzo, Italy over six generations ago. Many of Carlino’s old-world recipes were developed in those kitchens and are still enjoyed today. Cured meats like prosciutto and soppressata, sausages, sun-dried tomatoes, crusty bread, oil-cured olives, dried figs, olive oils, handmade pasta, sauces, and sweets have outlasted the test of time and remain virtually unchanged.

Carlino's Market HistoryGrandfather Pasquale came to America in the early 1900s and was later followed by his family, including his daughter-in-law, Angela Carlino, who was known and loved as the famous “Mama Carlino”. Carlino’s opened its first family store in Ardmore, Pa., in the 1980s offering homemade pasta, sauces, and the freshest pastries and cookies. The business flourished and grew over the years to become one of the best-known artisan food companies in the Philadelphia area with two gourmet markets and a full catering service.

Today, in our third generation of ownership, Carlino’s continues as makers & purveyors of artisan cheeses, handmade desserts, signature pasta and sauces, homemade fresh bread, prepared gourmet takeaway foods, authentic deli, homemade sausages, roasted meats, a collection of premium olive oils and balsamic vinegars on tap from around the globe, gelati, and an impressive selection of imported & locally-sourced groceries.

Our commitment to old-world techniques, treasured family recipes, and the finest ingredients has not changed. Our family invites you to celebrate with us the art of cooking, the joy of family, and the value of tradition.
